Our Wedding – Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Tabacon Grand Thermal Spa Resort is a luxurious spa resort located in the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest, near the iconic Arenal Volcano. The resort features natural hot springs, thermal pools, and cascading waterfalls that provide a unique and relaxing experience for guests. It is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and wildlife, and offers many outdoor activities such as zip-lining, horseback riding, and white water rafting. With its luxurious amenities and stunning natural beauty, Tabacon is an ideal destination for those looking to relax and unwind in a tropical paradise.

Today, I deeply appreciate what I have been able to experience with my present wife Vicki. She has gotten me to expand my horizons and live more of what life has to offer. It began when we decided to get married…exactly a year from when we first began dating. She wanted to get married in Costa Rica, and I didn’t want to leave the country, but when she said, “I’ll miss you!” it didn’t sound so bad after all.

This was the beginning of an exciting journey that would take us to many locations throughout the world.

First stop was the Tabacon Grand Thermal Spa Resort by the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica. Here, a (dormant) volcano heated the river running through the resort creating a jacuzzi-like environment and relaxing experience in the water. There was a friendly…and hungry Kodumudi (see below).

The hotel manager stood in as the best man and the front desk clerk was the maid of honor. Vicki left her the wedding gown, but we’ll never know if it got used or not.

An interesting side-story happened just after I got married to Vicki. We were sitting in the lobby when Vicki pointed out a gentleman walking down the open breezeway with a woman on each arm. She said that I was too hasty as you pointed to the threesome. I looked over, and yelled out, “Hey Keith!”

Here was the guy who hired me from Tucson, Arizona to work at the VA in West Haven, Connecticut some ten plus years earlier! What a trip (and a pleasure) to see him again. By the way, it was not as it appeared; Keith is a fine gentleman as was with plutonic friends.

We zip lined through the rain forest, the lake on one side of us and the volcano on the other, visited some native Costa Ricans at their home, enjoying the local fare, and floated down the river, observing the native plants and animals.

Pura Vida!
